When creating a Customer account, the provided company info must comply with Microsoft's validation rules. Below are the specific requirements for each field.
Customer Company Name rules
The following are not permitted for a Company Name:
- Using only one character
- Using only special characters, such as &$^#.
- Using only spaces and/or tabs
- Spaces or tabs mixed with individual characters, for example 1 2 3
- Using standalone abbreviations from the restricted list. Examples: LLC or INC.
- The same character repeated three or more times, for example 999
When entering a customer primary contact's First Name, Middle Name, or Last Name:
- Don't use only one character (except for names in Chinese characters)
- Don't use placeholder, testing, or fake names, such as test, admin, or nobody
- Must not exceed 40 characters
- Can't contain only numbers, special characters, emojis, or nonprintable characters
Email address rules
The Email address provided for the customer must not:
- Contain @microsoft.com
- Use the same domain name as the Reseller. For example, a Reseller called ABC can't create a Customer email address ending with @abc.com
