How to import a Customer with an existing Microsoft tenant

Create relationship and import existing Customer

Bring a customer that already has an existing Microsoft tenant into CloudCockpit by establishing a relationship so you can start assigning licences to the tenant they already have.

Who can do this: CSP and Resellers.
What the customer needs: an active Microsoft tenant and a Global Administrator who can accept the relationship request.

How this works

CloudCockpit reflects the customers relationships that exist in your Partner Center, so a tenant becomes visible to you only after its administrator has accepted a relationship with your organisation.

To bring an existing customer into CloudCockpit there are 3 steps:
  1. You send a relationship request
  2. Customer accepts it
  3. Customer tenant is imported into CloudCockpit

Step 1: Send the relationship request

The request is generated in your CloudCockpit portal.
A customer cannot generate their own request, so their only task is to have someone with Global Administrator credentials for their tenant accept the relationship by opening the link you send them.
  1. Go to Customers.
  2. Click Create customer relationship.
  3. Click Create relationship.
  4. Send the generated information to the customer.

Step 2: The customer accepts

The customer's Global Administrator opens the link and completes the acceptance on Microsoft's page.
Until this happens, the tenant is not visible in CloudCockpit.

Step 3: Import the customer

Once the relationship is accepted, there are two ways the customer is imported to CloudCockpit.
You don't need to choose; if you do nothing, the second one happens on its own.

Option A: Import Customer (manual)

Use this when you need to provision on the same day:
  1. Go to Customers.
  2. Click Import Customer.
  3. Search for the customer by name or domain.
  4. Click Import.

If the customer doesn't appear in the search results, the relationship hasn't been accepted yet, or Partner Center hasn't propagated it.
Confirm the acceptance with the customer's Global Administrator, then retry or simply wait for the overnight sync.

Option B: Overnight sync (automatic)

CloudCockpit synchronises with Partner Center overnight. Any customer with an accepted relationship is imported automatically and will be present the following day. No action required.

Verify it worked

The customer appears in the Customers list. Subscriptions and licences you add from there are provisioned directly into the customer's existing tenant.
