Microsoft Extended service terms (EST) in CloudCockpit

Extended service terms (EST)

What are Extended Service Terms (EST)?

Microsoft is removing the free grace period for non-renewed CSP subscriptions starting May 4, 2026.

From that date forward, any eligible subscription that is not explicitly renewed or cancelled will transition into a paid Extended Service Term (EST).

EST Pricing

When a subscription moves to EST:
  1. Billing is monthly.
  2. Pricing includes an increase over standard monthly of +3% or +23% when no monthly plan exists for that product.
  3. Can be cancelled at any moment or scheduled to cancel at the end of monthly EST term.

New renewal options

  1. Renew subscription: Renews normally to a standard subscription.
  2. Renews to extended service term EST: Transitions to an increased-price monthly extension, keeping services active.
  3. Do not renew: The subscription is cancelled, and services stop at the end of the term.

Manage subscriptions in EST

Cancel a subscription in EST

  1. Go to the customer's Subscriptions or Reporting > Upcoming subscription renewals.
  2. Click on the subscription name.
  3. At the bottom of the right-side summary, select Actions > Cancel.
  4. Confirm by selecting Yes, cancel.

Convert from EST to a normal subscription

  1. Go to the customer's Subscriptions or Reporting > Upcoming subscription renewals list.
  2. Click on the subscription name.
  3. At the bottom of the right-side summary, select Actions > Upgrade.
  4. Select an eligible option.
  5. Review pricing and click Upgrade.

Create new subscription

When creating a subscription in CloudCockpit if auto-renew is set to:
  1. Disabled: Subscription will cancel at the end of the term and not transition to EST. Though the free grace period no longer occurs at the end of the term, data is preserved for 90 days.
  2. Enabled: Subscription will renew normally.

Change subscriptions renewal settings

Follow these steps to configure what happens to the subscription at the end of the term:
  1. Go to the customer's Subscriptions or Reporting > Upcoming subscription renewals list.
  2. Click on the subscription name.
  3. Update renewal settings and schedule what will happen at the end of the term:
  4. Renew subscription
  5. Renews to extended service term EST
  6. Do not renew
Warning
If a subscription is already in EST, changing renewal settings will only take effect after the current EST monthly term ends.

How to monitor subscription renewal status?

Use Reporting > Upcoming renewals to:
  1. Identify subscriptions that may transition to EST if no action is taken.
  2. Review current renewal configuration.
  3. Configure whether to schedule renewal, cancellation or move to EST.
